Nomination Guidelines

25TH ANNUAL COLA AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Nomination Submission Period opens Wednesday, May 15, 2019 and closes Wednesday, July 31 at 11:59 pm PST.

Nominees in each category will be determined by the COLA Awards Committee – work completed Friday, August,16 2019.

Nominees announced and online voting by FLICS and 399 Steering Committee members will open Friday, August 23, 2019.

Voting closes on Friday, September 6th at 11:59pm PST.

Winners announced at the COLA Awards on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Hilton Los Angeles – Universal City

LOCATION PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND ELIGIBILTY

The COLAs, as they are affectionately known, are the premier awards ceremony saluting location professionals and public employees for professional excellence while working on location in the State of California.

Eligibility for all nominations and awards will be determined by screen credits or certification from producing companies. Final nomination eligibility shall be made by the COLAs. The COLAs reserve the right to make its own determination of credit for purposes of award consideration.

NOMINATION SUBMISSIONS AND VOTING RULES, REGULATIONS AND PROCEDURES

Nomination Submission Forms will be available on the COLA website Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

Correct and complete entry information is the responsibility of the person or company submitting the nomination. The COLAs are not liable for incorrect ballot or crew listings that are the result of incorrect or incomplete information on the entry forms.

If an entry is submitted in the wrong category or with erroneous information by the entrant, and the error is not discovered until the ballot reaches the voters, it may be disqualified. If the COLAs make an error or provide erroneous information on the ballot, a correction notification will be issued.

Final approval of category placement and eligibility shall be determined by the COLA Awards Committee. Submissions will be accepted from FLICS members, film commissions, location professionals, industry professionals and vendors, studios, and production companies.

ELIGIBILITY

If there are three (3) or fewer qualifying works submitted in a category the COLA Awards Committee may elect not to give an award in that category for the current year.

Location Manager of the Year: Studio or Independent Features, Television, Reality TV, Music Videos, Commercials and Stills
Filming in the State of California must have taken place between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019. Only lead LM’s may be nominated in these categories. Location Manager of the Year awards are given to consummate professionals that lead in excellence and integrity, overcoming the obstacles of production while filming on location in the state of California.

Location Team of the Year: Studio or Independent Features, Television, Commercials
Filming in the State of California must have taken place between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019. Location teams may be nominated in these categories. Location Team of the Year awards are given to groups of professionals that lead in excellence and integrity, overcoming the obstacles of production while filming on location in the state of California.

Public Employee: Federal, State, County, City
Individuals being nominated must have been working in their nominated jurisdiction between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019. Public employee awards are given to individuals or teams that lead in excellence and integrity, overcoming the obstacles of production and champion the cause of keeping filming in California.
